Akos, Mark, and I took a gamble on this day and it paid off. The SPC had a 10% tornado outlook for northeastern South Dakota into western Minnesota. After our forecast and checking and re-checking models, satellite, and surface obs, we decided to target central to east central South Dakota. We chose wisely. Storms fired close to our position, and we were on them around the time they were severe warned. The storm eventually got a tornado warning, but it never produced. That's nothing out of the ordinary though. That probably happened more than 2 dozen times to me this year alone. This storm certainly had some nice structure for quite a while.
