Daily Fee |
I charge a daily fee to help offset my expenses. While chasing across America, I incur a variety of annual expenses: vehicle purchases, vehicle maintenance expenses, hail shield expenses, amplifier and antenna expenses, and miscellaneous expenses derived from life on the road. I have a $100 per day fee for each storm chaser that chases with me during my full-time storm chasing season and a $50 per day fee for night and weekend chases during my part-time chasing season (see Dates for my schedule of full-time and part-time chasing). This fee allows me to continue to provide this storm chasing opportunity.
It is important to me, and the other chasers, that you confirm your dates for full-time chasing. You can do that by putting down a nonrefundable deposit (not including extenuating circumstances) of 50% of your total $100 per day fee (ie. $100 per day x 14 days = $1400 x 50% = $700.00 deposit). This will ensure that you get a spot in the vehicle. This deposit will go toward your total trip cost, and I only ask for it to make sure that I have dedicated chasers signing up. The rest of your fee is due one month before you begin chasing with me. Therefore, you will have paid me the fee in full before you arrive so that you will only need to pay for hotel, gas, and tolls at the end of your chase. Remember, if you don't send me a deposit, I can't reserve your seat. |
Your Expenses and Expected Travel Budget |
This is a thorough breakdown of the expenses you'll probably incur if you come to the U.S.A. to storm chase with me during my full-time storm chasing. Note that these are general figures just to give you a guideline. Please be sure to read the disclaimer at the bottom.
The price of your trip to partner with me will depend on a couple of factors:
I have calculated that $200 per day is what most people will spend. I will attempt to give you a general rundown of how each of these will effect your cost. First, let's look at the expected costs per day.
Second, your fee and any food you eat are the 2 daily costs that are covered solely by the individual chaser. Group expenses including hotel, gas, and most miscellaneous expenses are split among me and the other chasers. The more chasers we have riding together, the cheaper it will be.
Third, if you stay longer, it will cost more. Most people stay for two weeks, but some stay for a month. |

|
I want to make sure that all group purchases (hotel, gas, etc.) are split evenly among all members in the group including me. Therefore, I will be paying for all of the group purchases (hotel, gas, tolls, etc.) and splitting it evenly among all of us at the end of the trip. Therefore, you should be prepared to pay your share of the expenses with cash, Paypal (+ Paypal fee), Venmo, Zelle, or transferwise (the best choice for chasers from overseas) at the end of the trip.
