What a surprising day this was! We woke up and forecasted for a chase near Loredo, TX. But, being near Corpus Christi with 75 degree dew points and backed winds, we still weren't expecting the morning chase that we got right out of the hotel. After 10 minutes of driving, we stopped to watch the base of a small pulse storm. The base was incredibly low, and I thought I saw some rotation. We stopped to watch it and sure enough a funnel began to develop. We blasted over to watch and a funnel about half way to the ground lasted about 5 minutes. We were incredibly surprised, and when we saw another small storm to our southwest, we decided to try our luck with it. Sure enough, it put down a short lived tornado as we were approaching it and a number of funnels as we messed around with it over the next 30 minutes. Technically our chase day hadn't begun yet! After this storm died, we went to Laredo and chased some HP messes that almost got us flooded.
