Well, this day in Colorado and Kansas turned out to be one of the best of the trip. We were eating at the Dish Room in Burlington, CO when storms fired right over town. Talk about a convenient target! However, we did not expect a tornado to form while we were having lunch! We ran outside to watch it develop. Apparently, it touched down in a field just outside of town. But, that made for a great start because we then saw 3 landspout tornadoes form north of town. They were on the ground for about 20 minutes and we raced to get close but they were still a few miles away from us when they dissipated. Little did we know that the main show hadn't started yet. Storms near Goodland, KS strengthened and eventually got tornado warned. We were treated to some of the most spectacular structure of the year! Not only did we get the structure, but we had a dirty tornado develop from this amazing mesocyclone.
