What a wonderful surprise this day was. We targeted northern KS, but once we realized that storms weren't going to develop, we moved down toward Wichita, KS. We were late to arrive on the severe storms but we arrived right on time for the pink striated supercell! The perfect play of the setting sun on the backside of this storm made for an awesome sight. We observed a small pink funnel before the sun set. After this storm died, we got on another storm that was totally stationary for over 2 hours!
